Yiannis Tridimas

Yiannis Tridimas (born Andros, Greece on 22 February 1945) is a well renowned long-distance fell runner, noted as being the first and only 60 year old to have completed an extended version of the Bob Graham Round, covering 60 peaks in under 24 hours [ [http://www.bobgrahamround.co.uk/statistics.htm Statistics ] ] [ [http://www.bobgrahamclub.org.uk/index.php?page=records The 24 hour club ] ] . He completed the course on his third attempt, during the weekend of 6/7th August 2005, after his first attempt was curtailed by injury and the second by extreme hot weather [ [http://www.bobgrahamround.co.uk/yiannis.htm Untitled Document ] ] . He completed the round with 8 minutes to spare before the 24 hour mark was surpassed. In addition in 1995 he completed 50 at 50 making him the first person to gain membership with the Bob Graham Round without having completed the basic round first. He is among few who have completed all three 24 hour rounds in England, Scotland and Wales. He remains the only member of the fell runners association to have been awarded the long distance trophy twice. In the photo below Yiannis is seen with Ranulph Fiennes at the start of the 2004 Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon where they finished in tenth place in the Elite class [ [http://www.lamm.co.uk/2004/overall_results.html Lowe Apline Mountain Marathon 2004 - Glen Carron - Overall results ] ] . In 2003 Yiannis, along with team mate Ray Baines were winners in the veteran section of the Long score class, at the Karrimor International Mountain Marathon (KIMM) [ [http://www.kimm.org.uk/k2003/index.php?articleID=63&menuID=7&type=article Kimm 2004 Event Reports :: The Role Of Honour ] ] . In 2007 Yiannis and Ray Baines completed the OMM (Previously KIMM) elite class with an aggregate age of 121, the team with the highest aggregate to ever finish the elite class.

Yiannis, now a preeminent figure in the world of fell running has been a guest speaker at fell running award ceremonies [ [http://www.rochdaleharriers.co.uk/fgp06presentation.htm Rochdale harriers ] ] and is mentioned in the 2007 Autobiography by Sir Ranulph Fiennes; Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know.
