Village West

Village West is a $573 million, convert|400|acre|km2|sing=on retail, dining and entertainment development that opened in 2002 in Kansas City, Kansas. It is located at the intersection of Interstates 70 and 435 (11 miles from Downtown KCK). Attractions in or adjacent to Village West include:

* Kansas Speedway
* The Legends at Village West, a large lifestyle center with shops, restaurants and entertainment
* Cabela's outdoor outfitter
* Nebraska Furniture Mart
* Great Wolf Lodge, Indoor Waterpark And Resort
* CommunityAmerica Ballpark, home to the Kansas City T-Bones of the Northern League.

Also within the area are The Woodlands race park (featuring both greyhounds and horses), Sandstone Amphitheater, the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, Wyandotte County Park, and Sunflower Hills Golf Course.

Future developments

Schlitterbahn Vacation Village, a $750 million, convert|370|acre|km2|sing=on resort and waterpark billed as the largest entertainment project in Kansas history, is scheduled to open across I-435 from Village West in 2009. There are also plans for a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to be built after the state of Kansas approved plans on September 19, 2008. The hotel/casino will overlook one of the turns and the track will add a second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race no later than 2011 by moving one race from another ISC-owned facility.
