Gurgenidze ( _ka. გურგენიძე) was a Georgian noble family known from the 18th century in the province of
Kakheti .The earliest line of the Gurgenidze, lords of
Shildi , had been extinct by 1744 when the kingErekle II rewarded the loyal service of a petty noble Solomon Mordlisdze by granting him the surname, titles and estates of the extinct house of Gurgenidze.
