Gary S. Stein is a United States attorney and former Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court, He served on New Jersey's Supreme Court for 17 years where he wrote over 365 published opinions. From 1982 until 1985 he served as the Director of the New Jersey Governor’s Office of Policy and Planning. He also served as the Paramus Borough Attorney and serves on the boards of Trustees of Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey and Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. On December 12, 2007 Justice Stein was appointed a Trustee of the Tropicana Casino and Resort Atlantic City by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission after the commission denied the license renewal of Adamar of New Jersey the owner of the Tropicana and their parent company Columbia Sussex Corporation, He will oversee the day to day operations of the casino/hotel until a new owner can be found.
On December 19, 2007 the New Jersey Casino Control Commission appointed Stein to serve as Conservator of the Tropicana Casino and Resort in addition to being trustee.
