"Forever Man" is a rock song from Eric Clapton's 1985 album "Behind the Sun", released as the first single of the album.

Musical structure and lyrics

Clapton had just signed a contract with Warner Bros Records when he started recording "Behind the Sun". When the album was completed, the record company rejected it because they felt it did not have enough singles. They commissioned three songs by Texas composer Jerry Lynn Williams, one of which was "Forever Man".

The song begins with the singular riff, in which the bass, the guitar and the synth play. It has an intro, verse, chorus, verse solo and final chorus.

Music video

This was Eric Clapton's first music video, showing Clapton himself performing the song with his band (Donald "Duck" Dunn, Jeff Porcaro, Michael Omartian, Steve Lukather, Shaun Murphy, Yvonne Elliman and Marcella Detroit) in a circular stage that in the center had a step, this is where Eric Clapton is performing, the other members of the band are a step below. The video films all of the camera men and cameras, which have black sweaters with numbers in them. It became an MTV favourite, featuring an accident where one of the cameras falls off the dolly.

It was the only music video made from this album.

"Forever Man" was performed by Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood during their second US Blind Faith reunion tour at Madison Square Garden, NYC, February 25th-28th, 2008.

Movie appearance

"Forever Man" is playing in the background of the movie "SpaceCamp" when Tate Donovan's character arrives at the space camp in his Jeep.
