Kansas City Scouts , the Capitals joined the National Hockey League as anexpansion team for the 1974–75 season. The team was owned byAbe Pollin , owner of theNBA 'sWashington Bullets . Pollin had built the Capital Centre in suburbanLandover, Maryland , to house both the Bullets (who formerly played inBaltimore ) and the Capitals.
