Betsey Bayless was the Republican
Secretary of State of Arizona from September 5, 1997 until January 6, 2003. She was appointed to fill the unexpired term ofJane Dee Hull . She was elected to a full term November 3, 1998.Born in
Phoenix, Arizona , Bayless is a third generation Arizonan. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in Latin American Studies and Spanish from theUniversity of Arizona , where as aPhi Beta Kappa , she received the Freeman Medal as outstanding graduate in 1966. She earned her master’s in Public Administration atArizona State University .
