"Spectamen verum" is a small deepwater sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Trochidae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to the northern tip of the North Island of New Zealand, extending to the Three Kings Islands.

Habitat

This deepwater top shell lives at depths of between 60 and 95 m.

hell description

The shell is has finer and more numerous spiral cords than in "Spectamen plicatulum", coupled with the wide, deep, and ridge-margined umbilicus of "Spectamen luteolum".

The external shell coloration is lemon-yellow, merging into buff, and with a few wavy narrow radial reddish-brown streaks on the upper surface only.

The shell height is up to 3.5 mm, and the width is up to 5.4 mm.
