Bruce Edward Nelson (born May 12, 1979 in Emmetsburg, Iowa) is a former American football guard and center of the National Football League [cite web |url=http://www.databasefootball.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=NELSOBRU01 |title= Bruce Nelson|accessdate=2008-06-16 |work=databasefootball.com |date= ] . He was originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft [cite web |url=http://www.databasefootball.com/draft/draftyear.htm?yr=2003&lg=NFL |title=2003 NFL Player Draft |accessdate=2008-06-16 |work=databasefootball.com |date= ] . His NFL career was limited to two seasons because of hip injuries. He played college football at Iowa [cite web |url=http://www.nfl.com/players/brucenelson/profile?id=NEL133180 |title=Bruce Nelson |accessdate=2008-06-16 |work=nfl.com |date= ] . Nelson was 1st team All-American and 1st team All-Big Ten in his senior season in 2002. He was also team captain 2002 and also had 48 consecutive starts. Bruce Nelson was also voted academic Big Ten in 2000, 2001, and 2002. He now resides in his hometown of Emmetsburg, Iowa.
