- Sucuriju Gigante
Sucuri Gigante (a.k.a. Anaconda) translated means "Giant Sucuri" or "Giant Boa". This elusive reptile has also been referred to as "Mysterious Beast" and "Controller", as it is said to "control" certain areas of the rivers it inhabits. Sucuri Gigante is claimed to be a sub-species of the common Green Sucuri, or
Anaconda "(Eunectes murinus )", but some scientists have proposed that it could be an ancestral of "Gigantophis", a large snake fromEocene period (58 millions to 34 millions of years before) that could reach 33 feet (10.7 m) of length. In Brazil and many areas in South America the commonAnaconda is called Sucuri. While no definitive proof exists of Sucuri Gigante, it's speculated to reach lengths of 40 meters, 80 Centimeters around, and weigh upwards towards 5 tons. Some tribes from Amazonia talk about Sucuri Gigante as the name Anaconda, referring to her as the creator of the biggest river of Amazonia and South America, The Amazonas River.References
