Western Bari

Western Bari ( _so. Galbeedka Bari) is a region ("gobol") in northern Somalia. Western Bari is claimed by the autonomous Puntland and Maakhir regions of Somalia. Its capital city is Galgala.

Western Bari has a short coastline facing the Gulf of Aden to the north and is bordered by the Somalian regions of Boharo and Bari.

The region lays strategic location as the high way that’s links Boosaaso to the rest of Somalia goes through this territory.

Maakhir Claims Western Bari

Maakhir State claims this region as the inhabitants are mainly Warsangeli clan of Somalia and since the declaration of this new state there has been a conflict with Puntland over this region mainly because this region is the gateway to Boosaaso.
