  • Ernest Guite, (born 1884), son of Canadian politician Jean-Francois Guite, opened general store in New Richmond, Que., in competition with his father's general store in Carleton, Que., with wife Aline Cyr opened Les Chalets Guite log cabins on Little Cascapedia River and hosted Eleanor Roosevelt in 1933, opened Peak o' Dawn Hotel, Perce, Que., in 1934, twelve children.
  • Jean-François Guité, PC (1852–1917), Canadian politician. Born in Maria, Que., on Gaspe Coast, owned general store in Carleton, and became lumber merchant shipping railway ties from New Carlisle to Boston. Appointed by his wife's uncle Sir Alphonse Pelletier, Speaker of Canada's Senate, to Canadian House of Commons, for Bonaventure, as Liberal, 1897, and served three years. Descendant of Guillaume Blanchard, one of first Europeans to settle in North America, who arrived Port Royal, Acadia, (now Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia), 1606.
  • Jean-Paul Guite, (1921-1955), grandson of Canadian politician Jean-Francois Guite (1852-1917), born New Richmond, Que., selected in 1939 to represent Quebec in first four Canadians sent for British Royal Navy officer training, volunteered to evacuate British Expeditionary Force from Dunkirk, 1940, narrowly escaped August, 1941, sinking of HMS Picotee by German submarine U-568, and performed North Atlantic convoy duty until 1945. After World War II became partner with Jean-Louis Levesque in Credit Interprovincial Ltee., predecessor to Levesque Beaubien Ltee., helped form TransCanada Funds, lived in Westmount, Que., died in duck hunting camp fire, age 34, buried at sea by Canadian Navy, 1955. Wife Alison Carmichael Guite, children Diane, Michel.
  • Michel Guite (born 1945), son of Jean-Paul Guite, founder of Vermont Telephone Co., former Salomon Brothers equities analyst, PhD from Stanford University (1977), M.Sc from M.I.T. (1974), climbed Mt. McKinley and other peaks, lives in Greenwich, CT, and is member of Explorers Club, New York, Mount Royal Club, Montreal, wife Eva, six children Sophie, Diane, Jean-Paul, Graham, Ware, Jean-Christophe.
  • Sophie Guite (born 1982), daughter of Michel Guite, editor McGill University humor magazine Red Herring 2004, graduated McGill University 2005, M.A. Columbia University, 2009, Ph.D Columbia University, 2011, works at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, New York, in equities research.
