Christian Melodic hardcore band that are signed withFerret Records . They derive their name from the comic book characterGwen Stacy , who appeared inSpiderman as the first love ofPeter Parker . They are fromIndianapolis, Indiana , and formed in 2004.Background
The band formed in late 2004 and has worked hard and toured vigorously ever since. They are good friends with The Devil Wears Prada,
MyChildren MyBride ,The Human Abstract and others, and have toured with them. The current lineup is a bit different now than when the band started. Gwen Stacy was formed by Brent Schindler and T.J. Sego along with previous members, Chris Suter and Josh Rickard. Chris Suter was vocalist and played the guitar; and Josh Rickard played guitar. Six months after the band formed, Cole Wallace joined the band as lead vocalist coming from a band called The House Effect. Chris Suter began to sing back up vocals and play guitar. A month later, Suter left the band completely and went on to play guitar in
Risen ; and Patrick Meadows took the second guitar spot. When Josh Rickard left in 2006, Mike Bryant became the second guitarist. Mike Bryant parted ways with Gwen Stacy in 2007. This left the band as a four piece band for a few months. Bobby Oakley joined the band and played guitar during The Life in your Way tour and half of theEmarosa tour. Josh Rickard then joined the band as a fill-in for the first half of the Vs. Tour. Bobby Oakley is once again the second guitarist. Cole Wallace was asked to leave the band in 2008, and Bobby Oakley took over as the band's new vocalist. To support their new album, "
The Life I Know ", released onFebruary 5 ,2008 , Gwen Stacy has been on a full U.S. tour withDrop Dead, Gorgeous ,Scary Kids Scaring Kids , and fellowIndianapolis band,Haste the Day . Gwen Stacy played a few days in Central America withHaste the Day andStill Remains in March 2008. They were on The Ultimatour with The Devil Wears Prada and fellow label mates,Maylene and the Sons of Disaster . After that tour they toured with with Duck Duck Goose andPoison the Well up until mid June.Departure of Cole
Right before their Tour with
Poison the Well , vocalist Cole Wallace was asked to leave the band for reasons undisclosed to the public. The newest member and previous second guitarist, Bobby Oakely, has taken the role as the band's new vocalist.Current
