Mario Adolfo Alvarez (born March 26, 1984 in La Caoba, Dominican Republic) is a pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

Alvarez originally signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an undrafted free agent on January 16, by|2003, and made his professional debut in by|2004 for the Santo Domingo Dodgers in the Dominican Summer League. He posted a 4-3 record with a 1.24 ERA in 13 game and held opponents to a .176 batting average.

In by|2005, Alvarez pitched for the Rookie League Ogden Raptors. In 12 starts, he had a 3-3 record with an ERA of 6.14. Alvarez played for the Single-A Columbus Catfish in by|2006, going 7-10 with a 5.68 ERA.

In by|2007, while pitching for the Single-A Inland Empire 66ers, Alvarez once again had a 7-10 record and had a 5.60 ERA. On November 20, 2007, Alvarez's contract was purchased by the Dodgers, protecting him from the Rule 5 Draft. He played the by|2008 season with the Double-A Jacksonville Suns.
