A J Scahill Stakes

The A J Scahill Stakes is a Group 3 Australian Thoroughbred horse race held under Weight for Age conditions, for horses aged 3 years old and upwards, over a distance of 1400 metres at Ascot Racecourse, Perth in December. Prizemoney is AUD$125,000.

The race is named for Mr Alan J Scahill, who served on the Committee of the Western Australian Turf Club from 1953 to 1975 and was Vice Chairman in 1975. Mr Scahill was also a founding member of the Western Australian Totalisator Agency Board.

*1980 onwards was Group 3

*1978 - 1979 the race distance was 1200 metres
*1980 - 1982 the race distance was 1400 metres
*1983 the race distance was 1450 metres
*1984 onwards the race distance was 1400 metres

* In 2003 the race was run at Belmont Park Racecourse.
