1906 Ultras

1906 Ultras

The 1906 Ultras are an independent supporters group for the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer. The current group is a result of a merger between the San Jose Ultras, an Earthquakes supporters group and the 1906 Supporters Club of the California Victory, a now defunct USL First Division team in San Francisco. The 1906 Ultras occupy section 101 at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, California and can be found in section 113 at the McAfee Coliseum for their high attendance games. The goal of the group is to create a passionate atmosphere at Earthquakes games, both at home and on the road.

The History of "1906 Ultras"

San Jose Ultras

The San Jose Ultras occupied the South End and Section 135 of Spartan Stadium from 2003-2005. During the second leg of a playoff game against the rival Los Angeles Galaxy in which the Earthquakes were down 4-0, the Ultras unveiled a huge banner disclaiming: "Win or Lose, we will always be here for you!" The Earthquakes scored 5 goals to win 5-4, and the slogan became a rallying cry for the group. The group also had a San Jose Ultras banner featured in FIFA Football 2005.

1906 Supporters

The 1906 Supporters cheered on the California Victory in Section "Oi" of Kezar Stadium in San Francisco, California in 2007. The term "1906" referred to the 1906 earthquake and fire of San Francisco. The 1906 Supporters had their roots in early fan support of the San Francisco Seals as well as the San Jose Earthquakes, who were on hiatus during the 2007 season. The Victory suspended operation in September 2007, and the 1906 Supporters decided to jointly support the Earthquakes with the San Jose Ultras and created the 1906 Ultras.

Affiliations

The 1906 Ultras have collaborated with the San Jose, California-area grassroots movement [http://www.soccersiliconvalley.com/ Soccer Silicon Valley] , and plan to work with other supporters groups such as "The Casbah" in the future to create the best home field advantage possible.
