Yuri Wichniakov

Yuri Wichniakov is a Russian Basso Profondo singer known for his powerful lower register, and resonant low notes. He is the featured bass on the CD "Basso Profondo From Old Russia". In the many songs on that CD, Wichniakov is regularly heard singing the bottom G on the piano. He is also known for his voice which resembles the low notes of an organ.Wichniakov does most of his singing as part of the Russian Orthodox Male choir. The Orthodox Male choir is known worldwide for their musical repertoire which highlights the profondo singer. He can be heard chanting with Vladimir MIller in several concerts dating back to 2005.

Choirs Performed With

Wichniakov has performed the All-NIght Vigil of Rachmaninoff with the USSR Ministry of Culture Chamber Choir in 1986. He has also performed with the Orthodox Male Singers choir in which he spent the most time. He has most recently performed with the St. Petersburg chamber choir. He was hired specifically for the difficult Bb required in no. 5 of the All-Night Vigil of Rachmaninoff (Ныне Отпущаеши).
