- General Viejo
General Viejo is a small town located in the South Pacific Region of
Costa Rica . It is the capital ofEl General ; second district of the Perez Zeledon "Canton" in theSan Jose Province of Costa Rica.The following villages are part of El General District:El Marsella, General Viejo (capital), La Arepa, La Hermosa, La Linda, Miraflores, San Blas, San Luis, Santa Cruz, and Santa Elena.
History
General Viejo's colonization began at the end of the 19th century.
Manuel Estrada settled inthis land in 1870. Also, Marta Duran Elizondo and her husband Trino Montero, who was known as "Don Trino", were one of the few families that founded what is now the population of the General Valley.
