Brendan McGuigan (NICJI)

Brendan McGuigan is the current (as of 2007) Deputy Chief Inspector of the Northern Ireland Criminal Justice Inspectorate (NICJI). His professional background is in policing. His last position before joining the CJI was as a Chief Superintendent of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (Lisburn DCO). He was one of the relatively few Roman Catholics in the upper echelon of the constabulary before it was replaced by the Police Service Northern Ireland.

He assists the Chief Inspector in developing the Inspection Programme, and in managing the Inspectors and Assistant Inspectors as they conduct their work. McGuigan is also the Accounting Officer for CJI and controls the budget, monitoring expenditures to ensure efficient and effective use of fungible resources.
