Seely was an American dream-pop band in the mid to late 1990s. They released four albums before splitting in 2000. The group was started by

Seely released one album on Southern Music "Parentha See" in 1994. Two years later they were the first American band to be signed to British record label
Too Pure . Their first release for Too Pure, "Julie Only", was a re-recording of their first album.John McEntire (ofTortoise fame) produced it, and it was received with some critical acclaim [ [http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/record_review/21620-seconds Seely: Seconds: Pitchfork Record Review ] ] , with many comparing them toStereolab ,My Bloody Valentine andPram .They toured internationally, supporting bands like

Lori Scacco has continued making music, and released an album in 2004, "Circles", on
Eastern Development . Eric Taylor, the drummer from Seely, plays on "The Great Pretenders" and joins Marc Tompkins and Todd Lindell on stage for live shows.
