Capital Logistics

Capital Logistics

Capital Logistics is a former bus and coach operator in England. It was formed in August 1997 following the merger of Whyte's Airport Services and Capital Coaches (West Drayton) the previous April. The company was sold to Tellings-Golden Miller in 1999. Capital Logistics is not to be confused with the other former London bus operator Capital Citybus.

The company operated a variety of coach [http://jel-assorted.fotopic.net/p10693517.html] and contract services around London Heathrow Airport, and some London Bus services, including the H26 Hoppa minibus service fitted with wheelchair lifts and supported by Hounslow Council [http://www.countrybus.org/midi/MT_TGM.htm#contents] .

In the summer of 1998, Capital Logistics was due to take over the London bus route 60, which resulted in one of the most widely known failures of the new London bus tendering system. Problems with delivery of buses saw the route operated by no less than 8 different operators on an ad-hoc basis (including confusingly Capital Citybus), with double sub-contracting.

Eventually, in March 1999, Capital was able to operate the route with 16 DAF DB250 double-decker buses, 6 with Optare Spectra bodywork [http://londonbusesbyadam.fotopic.net/p39411528.html] , and 10 with Plaxton President bodywork [http://londonbusesbyadam.fotopic.net/p31761830.html] , some buses ran with "Capital Connections" branding.

Capital Logistics also operated "Connections" branded Optare Excels on local Uxbridge - Heathrow route U3 [http://gallery41664.fotopic.net/p38562350.html] and the ex-Green Line route 726 [http://londonbusesbyadam.fotopic.net/p39438902.html] gained from London Coaches.

Capital Logistics was bought by TGM on 1 June 1999, coincidentally just after a new contract for the 726 had been awarded to TGM in their own right, for takeup during 2000.

In April 2000 AirLinks acquired the airport coach business [http://www.investis.com/nx/downloads/report2000/coaches.htm] .
