Dorothea Herzog (born

She was born in
Ravensburg in the Germanstate ofBaden Württemberg to a middle-class family who supported the nationalistic party NSDAP. Her father, Friedrich Ernst Herzog, was an artillery officer who fought at the eastern front on the dark days of the Nazi regime. Her Mother, Wilhelmina Herzog, made her fortune selling handmade knives inStuttgart . In her early years her learning was disrupted by herdyslexia . The physician Werner Weinberg has a theory, that Herzog suffers a rare form of trisomy 21, with mosaic appearance. Due to this rare form, the disease affects only her facial aspect. Dorothea Herzog, being her parents' only child had a happy infancy, but her teenage years were marked by the immense suffering of the war and the death of her parents. Some say that this strongly influenced her work.Work
Herzog's poetry is influenced by dadaistic themes but also has elements of modern XXI Century poetry.
