- Mohammed Ibahrine
Mohammed Ibahrine, a social scientist, is Assistant Professor at the SHSS for at the AUI.
His main professional interest is the use of communication technologies.
Ibahrine got his Doctorate from the
University of Hamburg , Germany. In [http://www.land-of-ideas.org/] Germany, he studied at the [http://www.uni-freiburg.de/index_en.php] University of Freiburg, Hamburg and Erfurt.He did his undergraduate studies at Freiburg University, graduating in 1998 with a Masters of Arts degree in Global Politics. There, his thesis was "The coexistence of political cultures. A chance or challenge for Democratization in Morocco."
In 2006, he received a Ph.D. from the [http://www.sozialwiss.uni-hamburg.de] Department of Social Sciences for his dissertation: "The Political Use of the Internet by Islamists."
Today, Ibahrine is known for his work exploring the ways in which communication technologies are changing relationships, identities, and communities. Ibahrine has published his book [http://www.amazon.de/New-Media-Neo-Islamism-Mohammed-Ibahrine/dp/images/3836416557] New Media and Neo-Islamism:New Media's Impact on the Political Culture in the Islamic World.
