Terrence Gordon Aulich (born
5 October 1945 ) was anAustralia n Labor Party politician who represented the Division of Wilmot in theTasmanian House of Assembly and the state ofTasmania in the Federal Senate.Born in
Bathurst, New South Wales , Aulich earned aB.A. from theUniversity of Tasmania and worked as a teacher before entering politics.Aulich was elected as one of the representatives for the Division of Wilmot (now the Division of Lyons) for the Tasmanian House of Assembly in the 1976 Tasmanian election [cite web|url=http://www.parliament.tas.gov.au/tpl/Elections/e1976Wilmot.htm|title=Results in Wilmot for the election held on 11 December 1976|publisher=Tasmanian Parliamentary Library] and then re-elected in 1979 [cite web|url=http://www.parliament.tas.gov.au/tpl/Elections/e1979Wilmot.htm|title=Results in Wilmot for the election held on 28 July 1979|publisher=Tasmanian Parliamentary Library] , before being defeated in 1982 [cite web|url=http://www.parliament.tas.gov.au/tpl/Elections/e1982Wilmot.htm|title=Results in Wilmot for the election held on 15 May 1982|publisher=Tasmanian Parliamentary Library] . While in the Tasmanian parliament he held a number of ministerial positions in the Lowe and Holgate governments, including Administrative Services, Industrial Relations and Manpower Planning, Primary Industry, the Environment, Water Resources, Construction, Education and the Arts.
In the 1984 federal election, Aulich successfully stood for the Australian Senate, beginning his term as Senator on
December 1 1984 . He was re-elected in 1987, but defeated in the 1993 election, his term as Senator expiring onJune 30 1993 .References
