Marassia or Marasia (Greek: Μαράσια, Bulgarian Мараш "Marash", Turkish: "Maraş") also with the i or an e accented is a village in the northwestern part of the
Evros Prefecture in Greece located west ofTurkey andEdirne , southeast ofOrmenio andSvilengrad , Bulgaria, north ofAlexandroupoli and east ofKurdzhali , Bulgaria,Athens , the Greek capital is nearly 1,100 km northeast. Marassia is linked with the road connecting GR-51/E85 (Alexandroupoli - Soufli - Orestiada - Ormenio) and a road to Pentalofos andKomara . TheArdas river flows to the south. Recent recorded floods did not affect the village except for the southern portion. Dikea is the seat of the municipality ofTrigono . Its 2001 population was 797 for the village and 1,177 for the municipal district. Dikaia is located about 1 km south of theEvros river and is mainly flat. Across the river isBulgaria . History
After
World War II and theGreek Civil War , many of its buildings were rebuilt. Electricity and automobiles arrived in the 1960s, it was linked with pavement in the mid to late-20th century, television arrived in the 1980s. Internet and computers arrived in the late-1990s. The village's population lost by over half between 1981 and 2001.Other
Marassia has a school, church, banks, a post office, and a square ("
plateia "). Its nearest lyceum (middle school) and gymnasium (secondary school) are in Dikaia. Its nearest hospital is in Alexandroupoli and its university is inKomotini known as theUniversity of Thrace . Much of the area are flat. Its forests are founded by the Evros valley and the Arda tributary. Farmlands dominate much of the area.ee also
