Carlos Carrascosa

Carlos Carrascosa

Carlos Alberto Carrascosa is an Argentine businessman who was accused of the murder of his wife María Marta García Belsunce on October 27, 2002 in "El Carmel Country", a private neighborhood in Pilar, Buenos Aires. On October 27, 2002 María Marta was found dead in her bathroom. Apparently, she had fallen in the shower and her head hit on the faucets. Later, Carrascosa went to the house and ordered the servant to wash the bathroom and remove the blood stains before the police entered the house. This may have destroyed evidence about the apparent accident. When the police arrived at the house, Horacio García Belsunce (later accused of concealment) requested via his friend the Inspector that the police stay outside, as Carrascosa was disconsolate.

On December 2, 2002 , Carrascosa directed María Marta's body be cremated, but the Prosecutor requested an autopsy of the body. The autopsy determined that the body had five gunshot wounds to the head and that the holes had been covered with glue. Carrascosa became the principal suspect for the murder because he was the first person that went to the house and he ordered the servant to wash the bathroom. Carrascosa was arrested and accused of murder but evidence against Carrascosa was poor, so he was released. In 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 Carrascosa was arrested and released many times and finally on February 20, 2007 Carrascosa was placed under house arrest and tried for murder. On July 12, 2007, Carlos Alberto Carrascosa was found guilty of concealment but not murder. He was sentenced to 5-years of prison. [http://www.clarin.com/diario/2007/07/12/um/m-01455702.htm.]

The murder is not clear yet but the principal suspects are Irene Hurtig (stepsister of María Marta) and Guillermo Bártoli (brother in-law of María Marta) [ [http://www.lanacion.com.ar/archivo/Nota.asp?nota_id=926882 Juzgarán a parientes y amigos de Carrascosa por encubrimiento | LANACION.com ] ]
