Fellowship of the Andes

"Fellowship of the Andes" (2006) [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0889185/ "Fellowship of the Andes" at IMDB.com] is a documentary film starring blind climber Erik Weihenmayer.

In 2001, climber Erik Weihenmayer was the first blind man to summit Mount Everest. In June 2006 he guided a team of blind and visually-impaired students across the Andes. Dutch filmmaker Bernd Out produced an hour long documentary film about this "Leading the Way" [http://www.globalexplorers.org/leadingtheway06 Filmsite about the expedition] expedition which premiered at New York Film Academy on October 28th, 2006. The film shows how Erik and three of the blind students make their way across the Andes towards the ruins of the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu. The film has not been released on dvd yet.
