WRXS is a Modern Rock radio station in Columbus, Ohio, currently owned by Clear Channel Communications. It is one of two Modern Rock stations in the immediate Columbus area, the other being WWCD.

tation history

WMRN-FM had served the nearby Marion, Ohio area at 106.9 MHz with a country music format under the on-air moniker "Buckeye Country 107". The country format moved to the home of the former WDIF-FM at 94.3 MHz, where the WMRN-FM call letters returned in January 2008.

On December 1, 2007 the former 106.9 frequency moved to 106.7 and relicensed to Dublin, Ohio, where it began targeting the Columbus radio market. Prior to the announced launch, there were several domains registered by Clear Channel, which was done to keep listeners guessing, along with stunting consisting of television theme songs being played on-air.

On December 13th, 2007 at 12 noon EST, WRXS officially unveiled its true format, Modern Rock as "Radio 106.7" [ [http://ohiomedia.blogspot.com/ From Ohio Media Watch] ] [ [http://radioinsight.com/netgnomes/1067-columbus-launch-imminent/ From Radioinsight] ] . The first song played on Radio 106.7 was "Radio, Radio" by Elvis Costello.

The addition of "Radio 106.7" adds to an already competitive Rock radio market in Columbus, which in addition to WWCD, also includes Classic/Heritage Rock WLVQ, Active Rock WRKZ and WRXS's Adult Hits/Rock sister WBWR.

The Radio 106.7 presentation heavily centers on modern rock music from the 1990's, as well as featuring selected songs from the mid 1970's through the end of the 1980's as well as current product. Overall, the station comes across as "lighter" than typical Modern Rock radio stations. This type of presentation is highly similar to those at several other Clear Channel operations in Philadelphia, Grand Rapids, MI, and Hartford, CT.
