Alberto Cruz

Alberto Cruz was a U.S. soccer player who spent one season in the Western Soccer Alliance and earned one cap with the U.S. national team.

Youth and college

Cruz attended Archbishop Riordan High School. He was the 1989 West Catholic Athletic League Offensive Player of the Year. ^{[http://www.wcalsports.org/Records%20Brochure/2003-04%20Records/W.C.A.L.%20Records.pdf]} and was inducted into the Riordan Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. ^{[http://www.riordanhs.org/documents/05-06/FutureCampaignEdition_2005.pdf]} He also played with the San Francisco United Soccer Club. After graduating from Riordan, he entered the University of Santa Clara where he played on the men’s soccer team from 1989 to 1991.

Professional

While still in high school, Cruz spent the 1988 Western Soccer Alliance season with the San Jose Earthquakes. He was a first team All Star. ^{[http://a-leaguearchive.tripod.com/1988/1988wsa.htm]}

San Francisco Soccer Football League

Cruz played semi-professional soccer in the San Francisco Soccer Football League in 2000 and 2001 with Mezcala and 2003 with San Francisco A.C.

National team
