Emma Clarke

Emma Clarke

Emma Clarke (born 1971) is a comedy and drama script writer and an award-winning voice-over artist, best known as the voice of the automated messages issued in the London Underground train network.

She has written for BBC Radio 4, BBC television and the theatre, every play or sit-com written for radio being featured on Radio 4's "Pick of the Week".

She had contracts to produce customer announcements with London Underground from 1999 to 2007. In 2007 she achieved widespread public attention when, as a result of adding spoof announcements – cleared by London Underground – to her website, she attracted the attention of a "Mail on Sunday" newspaper reporter who interviewed her and published an article which denigrated her employer. As a result of this, London Underground announced that her contract would not be renewed. [cite news
