Zbigniew Pietrzykowski (born October 4,
1934 in Bestwinka, nearBielsko-Biała ) is a Polish boxer.He thrice started in the
Olympic Games , every time winning medals. He won bronze medal at Melbourne 1956 in theLight middleweight division, after loss in semi-final to HungarianLászló Papp . Four years later in Rome, he reached to end of theLight heavyweight division where he had to stand down beginning one's great career Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali ) and to satisfy with silver medal. At last, he won bronze medal at Tokyo 1964 in theLight heavyweight division (defeated by RussianAlexey Kisielev ).He five times participated at the
European Amateur Boxing Championships and won 5 medals. At the beginning, bronze one in theLight middleweight division at Warsaw 1953, and four gold medals then: at West Berlin 1955 in theLight middleweight division, at Prague 1957 in theMiddleweight division, and at Lucerne 1959 and at Moscow 1963 in theLight heavyweight division.He eleven times won the championship of Poland: in the Light middleweight division in 1954, 1955 and 1956, in the Middleweight division in 1957 and in the Light heavyweight division in 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965.
Pietrzykowski is the champion also under in relation to performances in national team of Poland. He fought 44 times, winning 42 duels and 2 losing. In his career, he rolled down 350 fights, 334 won, 2 drew and 14 lost.
