Parliamentary elections were due to be held in North Korea on 5 August 2008. [ [https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/kn.html Website] of the CIA] [ [http://www.mherrera.org/elections.htm Electoral Calendar- world elections,US elections, presidential election, world parties ] ] All candidates in the election had to be members of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, would be pre-selected by it internally and then run unopposed.
There is no information available regarding whether or not the elections did take place. If they did, the North Korean State press agency KCNA does not mention them. [ [http://www.kcna.co.jp/calendar-e/2008/2008_08.htm KCNA archives for August 2008] ]
