- Thiocyanate hydrolase
In
enzymology , a thiocyanate hydrolase (EC number|3.5.5.8) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :thiocyanate + 2 H2O carbonyl sulfide + NH3 + HO-
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are
thiocyanate and H2O, whereas its 3 products arecarbonyl sulfide , NH3, andHO- .This enzyme belongs to the family of
hydrolase s, those acting on carbon-nitrogen bonds other than peptide bonds, specifically in nitriles. The systematic name of this enzyme class is thiocyanate aminohydrolase.tructural studies
As of late 2007, 4 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|2DD4, PDB link|2DD5, PDB link|2DXB, and PDB link|2DXC.
