Tristan James Mabry is an American political scientist in the Department of Government at
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. [Department of Government, Georgetown University [http://www1.georgetown.edu/departments/government/] ] His research addresses thecomparative politics ofnationalism ,ethnic conflict , language and Islam, with a particular focus on the mobilization of Muslim minority independence movements. Mabry’s doctoral dissertation was based on field work interviews with the separatist leaders ofKurds in Iraq,Uighurs in China,Sindhis in Pakistan,Kashmiris in India, theAcehnese people in Indonesia and theMoro people in the Philippines.
He taught previously atBryn Mawr College andHaverford College in Pennsylvania. Mabry is a graduate ofMcGill University , theLondon School of Economics and Political Science , and theUniversity of Pennsylvania , where he studied under the supervision ofBrendan O'Leary .
