Eduardo (Eddie) Morlan attended Coral Park (FL) High School, and is a native of La Habana, Cuba. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the third round of the 2004 draft, and was signedigned by Hector Otero. After being signed, Morlan was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Twins.
2004 Season
Morlan made his professional debut as a member of the Gulf Coast League Twins, and appeared in 11 games, making two starts.
2005 Season
Morlan began the season at Elizabethton of the Appalachian League, and made four starts, posting a 0.82 earned run average.
2006 Season
Morlan spent the entire season with Beloit of the Midwest League, and appeared in 28 games, making 18 starts. He was amed a Midwest League All-Star after he posted a 2.29 earned run average in 106.1 innings of work, struck out 125 batters, and held opponents to a .202 batting average.
2007 Season
When the names were rolled out for the 2007 Florida State League All-Star Game, Morlan represented the Miracl.
2008 Season
In December, Morlan was included in a deal that sent him,
Matt Garza , andJason Bartlett to theTampa Bay Rays forDelmon Young ,Brendan Harris , andJason Pridie .Morlan has the chance to really make the deal hurt for Minnesota; he missed most of the first half of 2008, injuring his shoulder after six relatively ineffective performances to begin the season. He rejoined the Biscuits’ bullpen a few weeks, but has only made five relief appearances since coming back to the team. In 13.0 innings pitched, he has surrendered 17 hits, two of which were homers, eight runs (seven earned).
