U.S. Regional Fishery Management Councils

The eight US regional fishery management councils are the primary forums for developing conservation and management measures for U.S. marine fisheries. They are established by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act

The councils are comprised of federal and state officials, including the National Marine Fisheries Service, the US Coast Guard [US Coast Guard: [http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-o/g-opl/LMR/LMR.htm "Living Marine Resources"] ] , and the Fish and Wildlife Service.
