Miss Muffet Books is a publishing house located in Perth, Western Australia founded in 2004 by Debbi Spencer. It grew out of the need for Debbi Spencer to
self-publish her first book "Why Can’t Charlie Talk?" Further books are set to follow about the challenges that children with special needs face in society. Why Can't Charlie Talk?
"Why Can't Charlie Talk?" is a children's story about a little boy with
autism attending school, written for 4-8 year olds. [ [http://www.autism-resources.com/childrenauthors/DebbiSpencer.html Autism-Resources.com] ]Partial proceeds from the sale of “Why Can’t Charlie Talk?” were donated to Focus On Children within the Autism Spectrum Inc. (FOCAS). Spencer was
"concerned about how her son would fit in with the other students in his class. Instead of sitting back and worrying (she) took matters into (her) own hands, and wrote "Why Can't Charlie Talk?" to explain to the other children in his class why he communicates differently, and that it is differences that make each of us special."
