Farhad Rostampour , an Iranian-American pilot, attempted to fly a single engine aircraft around the world. The flight started on June 2nd, 2007 from Greenville South Carolina and it was completed on July 28th, 2007. He flew 34000 miles around the globe, landed in 21 countries and made 43 landing in major international airports. Farhad Rostampour became the first Iranian-born pilot to complete a record setting flight around the world.This flight is known as the FreedomFlight, with the mission of making the global connection of peace, freedom, hope and achievement through aviation. Rostampour’s goal was to reach out to young Iranians and help them recognize that they too have alternatives and hope for a better future. He crossed the frigid water of the North Atlantic Ocean, flew over the high altitude of Alps and Mount Everest, Black Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Caspian Sea, flew over Iran’s air space while encouraging young Iranian to bring about changes in government, flew through Monsoon and Typhoon season in India and western Pacific and finally crossed the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Alaska in a 16.5 hours of flight over the Icy water of North Pacific. Freedomflight also made its path over many symbolic locations such as, Liberty bell, Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, Berlin Wall and tomb of Gandi.External links
