- Benoit Geers
Benoît Geers (born 1973) is a Belgian French language storyteller and writer.
Benoît Geers considers himself more a storyteller than a writer, in the tradition of
oral literature rather than written literature. His texts are mostly original works, though he has also done reinterpretations of traditional stories. His reinterpretations are personal and generally contemporary. He works to make the timeless art of storytelling relevant to the here and now.Only a few of his
novella s have been published. By personal choice, Benoît Geers will never be an author with many published works, since he will always prefer the storyteller's stage to the solitude of the author. He founded the Chrysalide workshops, storytelling workshops where he helps other people bring their stories into the world. There are frequent shows put on by participants to allow them to share the fruits of their work with the public.
Benoît Geers also gives regular shows, including his contemporary, urban and humanist series "La plus haute tour de la ville" (The Tallest Tower of the City). He also participates in storytelling walks, in which his stories propose a view of nature based on
poetry and imagination. He has created his own "artisanal and evolutionary" publishing house, "Les Éditions de la Chenille", where he self-publishes his stories. His books are unique poetic objects where the stories can evolve as they do in oral storytelling.
