Alexis Papahelas

Alexis Papahelas ( _el. Αλέξης Παπαχελάς) is a Greek investigative journalist and the current editor in chief of Kathimerini newspaper. He is the creator and principal presenter [cite web| url=http://folders.skai.gr/default.asp?pid=3&la=2&cID=1| title=Papahelas bio in Folders' site] of the news show in Skai TV called "Oi Neoi Fakeloi" ("The New Folders"), which is a continuation of his show in Mega Channel called "Oi Fakeloi" ("The Folders"). He is also the secretary-general of ELIAMEP (Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy) [cite web| url=http://www.eliamep.gr/eliamep/content/home/about_eliamep/eliamep_team/en/| title=ELIAMEP Board of Directors] .

Biography

Papahelas was born in Athens in 1961. He attended the Athens College and then went to the United States for his tertiary studies. He studied Economics and History in Bard College and then received a Master's in Journalism and International Relations from Columbia University.

He started his journalistic career as a New York correspondent for the daily "Aygi" in 1983, and continued as correspondent for "Kathimerini", the "BBC Greek service" and "Mega Channel". [cite web| url=http://www.armenians.gr/armenika/25/s25_16.html

Papahelas was also an attendee at the 2008 Bilderberg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilderberg) Conference in Chantilly, Virginia.
