"Anthracosaurus" is an extinct genus of labyrinthodont that lived in the Carboniferous period. "Anthracosaurus" belongs to the suborder of Embolomeri.

Description

"Anthracosaurus" from the Late Carboniferous some 310 million years ago, was a large, aquatic eel-like predator. It could reach up to 12 feet in length, and its jaws were full of sharp teeth. "Anthracosaurus" inhabited swamps, rivers and lakes in what is now Scotland.
