Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao (Telugu:గ్రంధి మల్లికార్జున రావు) is the founder chairman of GMR group, a leading infrastructure developer in India [cite web | title= GMR holding board| url=http://www.gmrgroup.co.in/corporate/gmrao.html| publisher=GMR group| date=| accessdate=2008-04-24] . He was ranked 198th in the world's richest list by forbes, and his wealth was valued at $6.2 billion. He is 14th on the India Rich List.

Rao was born in Rajam, Srikakulam district in Andhra pradesh.

Career and history

Rao started his business with jute mills and eventually founded the GMR group. He later expanded the GMR group into energy and infrastructure sectors. Rao is believed to have spent $8 million on his bid and to have made a deal with Fraport AG to support his bid technically and win the contract.
