"Margarella antipoda antipoda" is a subspecies of marine gastropod mollusc in the family Trochidae, the top shells.

Distribution

This top shell is endemic to New Zealand's sub-Antarctic islands.

Habitat

It is found in rock pools on small algae.

hell description

The shell is rather small, globosely turbinate, thin, minutely perforate to imperforate.

Coloration is dull purplish-black, and greenish iridescent within the aperture. The protoconch and early whorls are whitish with two spiral pink lines.

The maximum shell height is 8 mm, and width 8.5 mm.
