Mavis Evans (nee Kyle) (born 1931) is Professor Emerita of the University of Saskatchewan, College of Nursing and co-author of "Nursing Management in Canada", published in 1994 – a textbook widely used in Canada and England by nursing students and practitioners.

Evans received her Diploma in Nursing Service Administration from the University of Saskatchewan in 1968 and her B.S.N. (with distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan college of Nursing in 1969. In 1975 she completed graduate studies receiving a M.H.S.A. from the University of Alberta.

Following a distinguished career as a nurse, specializing in operating room nursing, Evans accepted an appointment in 1969 as Lecturer with the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan. She received tenure in that position in 1971, was appointed Assistant Professor (Tenured) in 1975 and Associate Professor (Tenured) in 1979. Mavis served as Assistant Dean at that institution from 19811986 and retired as a Professor (Tenured) in 1996.

During her academic career Evans wrote and/or presented more than 50 technical reports and papers on topics relating to theories and conceptual models for nursing practice, nursing education and numerous issues and trends in nursing. Evans' work both in publishing, teaching and through involvement with the provincial and national Registered Nursing Associations was instrumental in helping to establish nursing administration as a new and increasingly important aspect of nursing and of health administration in Canada.

Evans has been involved with numerous charities in Saskatoon including Board positions with Knox United Church, Oliver Lodge, and Persephone Theatre. Since her retirement in 1996 and subsequent move to Duncan, British Columbia she has continued her charitable and volunteer work with the Cowichan Valley Symphony Society, "Oakcrest Strata Council" and "Maple Bay Yacht Club". Mavis Evans has received numerous awards and forms of recognition throughout her career. In 1996 she was awarded the "Rotary Gold Wheel Award" (Saskatoon) in the Arts and Education category for demonstrating excellence, ethics and integrity in her profession. In 1997 she was presented with an Honorary Life Membership in the Saskatchewan Registered Nursing Association and with the University of Saskatchewan Life Time Award.
