issues=Saint Glycerius ( _it. San Glicerio, Clicerio) was a
5th century bishop of Milan . He was bishop of Milan from ca.435 to ca.437 .t. Glycerius and Emperor Glycerius
Saint Glycerius, died 437 AD, has been identified - but erroneously! - as the
Glycerius (c.420 - after480 ) who was one of the last of theWestern Roman Emperor s (reigned473 -474 ). Accounts concerning the emperor's later life are mixed.According to the chronicler
Marcellinus Comes , "The Caesar Glycerius, who held the imperial power at Rome, was deposed from power at the port of the city of Rome [i.e.Ostia ] by Nepos, son of the sister of the formerpatrician Marcellinus. From Caesar he was ordained a bishop, and he died." [ [http://www.roman-emperors.org/glyceriu.htm Roman Emperors - DIR Glycerius ] ]John of Antioch andJordanes both write that Emperor Glycerius becamebishop of Salona after Nepos took Rome, captured Glycerius without a fight and, having stripped him of royalty, appointed him to this see. [ [http://www.roman-emperors.org/glyceriu.htm Roman Emperors - DIR Glycerius ] ] Glycerius may not have been able to keep his hands out of politics,Malchus ("apud. Photius 78") suggests that Glycerius himself was involved in the conspiracy to murder Nepos in480 . [ [http://www.roman-emperors.org/glyceriu.htm Roman Emperors - DIR Glycerius ] ]Notes
