Saver return

The saver return is a type of train ticket used on British Railways (see National Rail).

Validity

The outward jouney must be made on the date shown on the ticket and the return journey can be made at any time within one calendar month from this date [cite web |url=http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/tr?ticketTypeCode=SVR |title=National Rail Enquiries Ticket terms and conditions |format= |work=] . Some train comanies prevent use of this type of ticket during the early morning and early evening, especially for services beginning or terminating at London. An example of these restrictions is quoted below:

The SVR ticket is not available for travel on trains arriving in London* before 1000 or departing from London before 0930. Travel is also not permitted on services departing from London* between 1629 and 1834 Monday to Friday, expect for travel to stations between Hatfield Peverel and Braintree inclusive on the 1636 departure from London. Misuse

On routes where the chance of there being a ticket inspector is low, commuters have been known to buy one saver return in each direction and keep reusing the return portion until either the ticket gets inspected and stamped, or the month expires.
