The shell is narrowly ovate, with the apex at the anterior fourth or fifth in adults, and at one eighth or less in juveniles. Young shells are sculptured with about 24 broad low radial folds, later developed into rounded primary ribs, with a weak radial in each interspace.
Coloration of the exterior is uniformly olive-brown, but with a bluish pattern extending down to about 15 mm from the apex. The interior is metallic dull smoky-grey, with the dark rib pattern, and sometimes the ocellate pattern as well, showing through.
Length is up to 53 mm, width up to 41.5 mm, and height 22 mm.
