- Frederick Parkhurst Dodd
Frederick Parkhurst Dodd (born
11 March 1861 ; died after 1917) was anAustralia nentomologist . He was known as the Butterfly man of Kuranda.Born in Victoria, Dodd worked in a bank in
Townsville for ten years before taking up entomology full-time. A number of species are named after him and his collection of insects was of importance. He undertook collecting expeditions inNew Guinea as well as Australia.The
Taeniopterygidae genus Doddsia is named for him.Dodd's daughters Elizabeth and Katharine continued the entomological tradition.
