Fossil Ridge High School, is also the newest and smallest of the cities senior high schools. Voters approved the schools construction in 2000, and the school opened in 2004. The School is named for the low ridge in the foothills found to the west and southwest of Fort Collins. Rocky Mountain High School .----Athletics and ActivitiesFossil Ridge High School participates in division 4A athletics for every sport but football which will play in the 4A Northern Conference for the 2009-2010 school year and all major sports are offered to students. The school also has many additional extracurricular activities such as a yearbook staff, a school newspaper, and multiple musical groups, including a marching band recognized statewide. For the schools first two football seasons, the school did not win a single game but in 2007 the Sabercats pulled off a 9-2 season, and played in the second round of the division 3A playoffs. ----Eco Green SchoolFossil Ridge High School is protecting the environment for which it is named. The school was constructed out of "green" materials. The school utilizes double pane windows and solar panels to produce energy.
