Jacek Rostowski was born into a Polish immigrant family in London, grew up and educated in the UK. In
1972 he obtained aBSc in International Relations at theUniversity College London , in 1973 MA in Economy and History at theSchool of Slavonic and East European Studies ,University of London (now part of UCL), and in 1975MSc in Economics at theLondon School of Economics and Political Science . Since1995 he has been a Professor of Economy and was the head of the Department of Economy at theCentral European University inBudapest . From 1988 to 1995 he was a lecturer at School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University of London, and from 1992 to 1995 he worked at the Centre for Economic Performance, LSE.From 1997 to 2000, Rostowski was Chairman of the Macro-economic Policy Committee at the Polish Ministry of Finance, is a Member of CASE Supervisory Council (Center for Social and Economic Research).
Since
16 November 2007 , he has been the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Poland in the cabinet of Prime MinisterDonald Tusk .He is married, has two children, speaks fluent his natives Polish and English, French, Russian, and German at the working level.
